A recreational or sessional dance class is designed for students of any age and ability who want to enjoy dance in a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment. These classes may include a variety of dance styles, such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, or creative movement.

Classes typically begin with a warm-up to prepare the body, followed by basic technique, movement exercises, and choreography. Students learn dance steps, rhythm, coordination, musicality, balance, flexibility, and performance skills at an appropriate level for their age and experience.

Recreational dance classes focus on enjoyment, confidence, creativity, fitness, and personal growth rather than competitive training. They provide a positive opportunity for students to express themselves, make friends, stay active, and develop a love of dance in a relaxed and encouraging setting.

READY SET DANCE Curriculum

Our preschool dance classes use the fun and engaging READY SET DANCE curriculum, designed especially for young children to explore dance, music, movement, and creativity in an age-appropriate way.

Classes introduce students to a variety of dance styles and skills, including jazz, tap, hip hop, singing, rhythm, coordination, balance, musicality, and creative movement. The program encourages confidence, independence, social interaction, listening skills, and a love of dance in a positive and supportive environment.

Each class is structured to keep young dancers active, engaged, and excited while learning foundational dance skills through music, imagination, props, and playful movement activities.

Babies and Me Class “Little Sunbeams”

The Babies and Me class “Little Sunbeams” is a gentle introduction to music, movement, and dance for babies or toddlers together with a parent or caregiver. This class focuses on bonding, sensory exploration, rhythm, coordination, and body awareness through songs, movement activities, props, and playful interaction.

Children participate at their own pace while developing confidence, motor skills, and early social skills in a warm and nurturing environment.

3/4 Year Old Class “Rainbow Movers”

The 3/4 year old “Rainbow Movers” preschool dance class is designed for young dancers who are ready to begin moving more independently. Students explore basic dance steps, rhythm, coordination, balance, and creative movement through the READY SET DANCE curriculum.

This class helps children develop listening skills, confidence, classroom routine, and social interaction while having fun with music, dance, and imaginative activities.

5/6 Year Old Class “Shooting Stars”

The 5/6 year old “Shooting Stars” class builds on foundational preschool dance skills and helps prepare students for more structured dance training. Dancers continue to develop technique, rhythm, musicality, coordination, confidence, and performance skills through age-appropriate jazz, tap, hip hop, singing, and creative movement.

This class encourages independence, focus, teamwork, and self-expression while keeping the experience fun, energetic, and positive.
